In recent days, I am having the issue with the format issue on Mac Excel with CSV file. I opened a CSV file on my Macbook and changed the cell format from "General" to "Numbers" for one column. After clicked save button and close the file, there will pop out message as below. Then, I will find the CSV file didn't help me to save the format exchange (from General to Number) when I open the CSV again. I have tried many times with such operation ,such as To use the Import to open the CSV at first instead of open it directly To use "save as" with different CSV formats which are available on Mac Excel To initiate a Blank sheet and copy the data into file, then save as a CSV file All these attempts have been failed as there will always the warning message pop out after I clicked save button. Could you help to take a look and see if it is a common issue or there is anything I could set up for this problem? Thanks in advance. For this issue, it was good when we were on Win OS for such operation. Is it different because on Mac OS? Might be possible. When you do calculations in Excel, you get floating point numbers. And Excel saves them with the greatest possible accuracy. If you want a lower level of precision, you have to create a corresponding value, use ROUND: A1: =ROUND(1/3*2,2) If you save that as CSV you get 0.67 as you see on screen. A CSV file is a text file and therefore can not contain any formats. Save the file as Excel file. 3 additional answers Anonymous 2021-07-27T05:55:28+00:00 Thanks so much! Is it different because on Mac OS? Cause we need to re-upload the csv file to our server for data match , so we have to save the file into csv file.
