How do you change 'paragraphing' in Outlook - when reply to an email?
For example, my current reply to an email has zero paragraph spacing so each 'enter' or end of a paragraph has no spacing to the next paragraph. Therefore a double 'enter' is required to space each paragraph. I want this to be automatic as 'default' - so a setting which I can't find needs to be changed.
Thanks, this has been a bugbear for me forever...

Anonymous 2023-05-10T02:35:39+00:00 Excellent that you tested it and yes I followed those instructions to the tee. Problem is they do not work for an incoming email that has no paragraphing. I suggest that you test that and not test an email with paragraphing already. A "reply email" will only mimic the orginal email formatting as I have stated above - testing would prove this. If I am wrong ,I'd be happy to admit this. Signature spacing is not just my case - it is all office cases - I've seen this repeated everywhere in offices - if you create your own signature. A workaround for a paid basic facitlity that doesn't work is really poor. Workaround exist because the original is "faulty" and in this case never fixed when new versions come out. Delete the signature facitlity if this random additional line is unfixable. Especially, if MS Office create all this new fancy stuff, but negate the basics like the 2 I have mentioned. I'll create a stationery as a "workaround". And I assume that stationery will get rid of the additional line, but probab;y won't fix the paragraphing on a return email that has no paragraphing? Lets see. I do appreciate your time, but we both know this is just accepting the unacceptable. 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2023-05-09T00:29:43+00:00 Thanks for that but it changes the normal.dot file and that 'single' reply email you do it to - but it does not change future "reply" email paragraphing for any following email replies. Try it yourself. You can change any single email reply but not the default to ALL email replies, regardless if you set a default in that single email reply. Sorry that suggestion does not work - I have tried this ever since outlook began. 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2023-05-10T01:06:53+00:00 Ok I'm not trying to be difficult, but you haven't answered whether you actually did your own instructions - tested it. I'm on 365 by the way. Anyway regrdless... I believe the problem is that the reply email 'mimics' the original email you are replying to. For example, if the incoming/original email has zero paragraph spacing - then your reply to that will be the exact same formatting. And no changing of the default.dot will affect that reply. There is also a spacing problem in new emails with a signature. You will see below a 'newly' created email without doing anything - and there are 2 lines above the signature already. So in each email you need to delete a line. I've asked this before and its unfixable. When you create a signature it creates a line above it, even if that signature doesn't have one. And then when that signature is used, the emial creates a line for typing. Thereby creating 2 lines. And for what it is worth there is a line created after the signature always regrdless if the signature doesn't have one. 0 comments No comments
