FORECAST SUMMARY
We ended the week on a quieter note weather-wise with the bulk of any strong to severe thunderstorms and concentrated showers moving well away to our south or west. Partly sunny or mostly cloudy skies were seen throughout our Friday, and it was still certainly humid, as high temperatures mostly reached the seasonable low and mid 80s. Drier and more comfortable air will gradually settle in across the region later tonight and that will set us up for some fantastic weather ahead. For Saturday and Sunday we can expect a mix of clouds and sun with temperatures topping out around 80 degrees Saturday and just a tad cooler in the mid to upper 70s on Sunday. The nighttime lows will also be dipping down to some refreshingly cool levels in the 50s. That nice feeling will also take us into Labor Day Monday with high temperatures topping out around 80 degrees. The pleasant and dry weather will stay with us into Tuesday before things turn a little warmer and more humid by the middle to late part of next week. That may come with the next chance for some rain as well.
DETAILED FORECAST
We'll continue to follow a cold front pushing further away to our south as the night unfolds. The boundary is still close enough that some humidity remains this evening and a few showers or a thunderstorm can't even entirely be ruled out. But any activity that occurs will likely be very spotty or could also stay largely away closer to Lebanon, Lancaster, Chester Counties, and points down across the Delmarva into far southern New Jersey. Many of us should stay dry for tonight with variable clouds and overnight lows getting a little cooler into the low and mid 60s. Look for the humidity to drop to more comfortable levels very late tonight.
We're saving the best part of the forecast for the Labor Day holiday weekend, as high pressure slowly presses down from Canada, an upper level low over New England will be too far way to bother us, and our pesky cold front we've dealt with all week finally drops far enough south to not be a factor. The result: partly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday with refreshingly lower humidity levels and dry and pleasant weather all weekend long. Now if your plans take you deeper into New Jersey and towards the Shore on Sunday, it's possible we see a stray brief shower there thanks to that aforementioned upper-level low. But overall, most of the region shouldn't see a drop of rain over the weekend. Look for Saturday's high temperatures to top out around 80 degrees followed by a refreshingly cool night with lows in the upper 50s. Sunday's highs should be a little cooler in the mid to upper 70s, but that's still at quite nice September levels for sure! Sunday night's lows again will be quite cool dipping down into the mid 50s.
LABOR DAY MONDAY
The nice stretch of weather should carry over into early next week and your Labor Day Monday. Expect mostly sunny skies, highs in the upper 70s, and dry weather to round out the holiday weekend. Rain chances remain close to zero and the dry and comfortable weather should allow us to make it a perfect 3 for 3 as far as our holiday weekend weather goes. And the nighttime lows in the 50s will continue for Monday night.
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY
High pressure will remain in control moving towards the middle of the week keeping our weather dry with a fair amount of sunshine. Tuesday should again feature quite nice high temperatures around 80 degrees with low humidity. Wednesday also features a mix of sun and clouds, but this time, things get a little warmer and turn a little more humid as high pressure works off the coast and brings us back to a southwest wind. Look for highs to climb back to seasonable levels in the low 80s with dew points ticking up through the 60s. A cold front may move in Wednesday night to bring a chance for some showers, but right now it doesn't look like anything too ominous.
